The Regions - Stakeholders in the Barcelona process: Union for the Mediterranean

After many months of hard work by the Mediterranean Regions and the other tiers of the local authorities came the statement in Article 3 of the Joint Declaration of the Paris summit for the Mediterranean held on 13 July 2008, acknowledging the important role of the regional authorities in the new vision of the Mediterranean:

Article 3 - “Heads of State and Government underscore the importance of the active participation of civil society, local and regional authorities and the private sector in the implementation of the Barcelona Process: Union for the Mediterranean”.
